City North Turns 4

Four years ago, Lou and I (with our incredible kids) left our home and flew 1600kms to plant City North Church in Glenorchy. It was thrilling—starting something new, watching God gather people, seeing lives transformed by the gospel. There was an undeniable sense of adventure, of stepping into something bigger than ourselves.
But planting a church isn’t just excitement and joy—it’s also sacrifice. Leaving behind the familiar, saying goodbye to family and friends, stepping into the unknown. We wrestled with doubts. Would people come? Would this church survive? And what about those who took a risk to join us? They left the comfort of established churches, not knowing if City North would flourish or fail.
I have to say, there has always been a confidence in Jesus who, we are promised, holds all things together (Colossians 1:17). He has been faithful when we felt weak. He has provided when we had no answers. He has built His church, just as He promised.
Now, four years in, we celebrate—not because of what we have done, but because of what He has done. City North Church exists today because of Jesus. And as we look to the future, we trust that the same Lord who called us here will continue to lead us.
To everyone who has prayed, served, given (man, have you given) and taken this journey with us—thank you. Here’s to the years ahead, for His glory alone.
