It's my money

If you've been in Glenorchy for a while, you've probably seen some changes happening. The latest census says we're 'gentrifying.' New houses are popping up, cafés are getting busier. People are chatting about buying their first home, moving up in the world, and building wealth. That's exciting stuff! Owning a home, taking care of your family, and planning for the future are all great. But have you ever thought about what God thinks about money?
The Bible doesn’t say having money is bad. Actually, God provides for people in amazing ways. But Jesus gives a heads-up that money can be tricky too. Why? Because it can grab our hearts. It might make us think we don’t need God anymore.
In Luke 12:15, Jesus says, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” Money promises security, but it can never really satisfy. We always want more—more comfort, more success, more control. But deep down, a lot of us still feel empty.
Here’s the good news: God offers something way better than just financial success. He offers peace that money can’t buy. Jesus didn’t come to make us rich—He came to give us life. A life where we don’t have to chase after wealth to feel valuable. A life where we can trust that God will provide what we need.
So dream big. Work hard. But don’t let money be your identity. There’s a greater treasure—knowing the God who loves you. If you’re searching, if you feel like something is missing, we’d love to chat.
