4 reasons we Church on Sunday

Why does City North Church gather on Sundays? Let’s dive into some potential theories:

1. The "Recovery Day" Theory

After a wild Friday night and a Saturday filled with questionable decisions, Sunday is the perfect day for spiritual recovery. Let’s face it, nobody wants to worship with a hangover (if this theory resonates with you, we need to chat, PRONTO).

2. The "magic for Monday" theory

Sunday meetings allow us to say: “I have to prepare my soul for the week ahead.” It’s hard to argue with someone who’s trying to get their spiritual life in order, right?

3. The "Lazy Weekend" Principle

Friday night is for partying. Saturday is the day for lounging around in PJ's, binge-watching shows, and avoiding all responsibilities. By Sunday, we’ve mustered just enough energy to put on real clothes and pretend we’re adults. It’s all about timing!

4. The "Pre-Monday Meltdown" Effect

Meeting on Sundays allows everyone to vent their impending Monday dread. “Ugh, Monday is coming!” becomes a bonding experience, and suddenly, we’re all in this together, sharing our mutual fear of the workweek ahead.

Conclusion

As you might be able to ascertain, the day we meet to worship is not as important as the reason we Worship. Some people choose Sunday, others are convinced it has to be Saturday. I think there is freedom to choose. The moment we take that choice away is the moment we start adding unnecessary rules. Where there is freedom, let's not enslave.
